Google Sheets is a free web-based spreadsheet program included as part of the Google Wordspce suite of productivity tools which also includes: Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Drawings, Google Forms, Google Sites, and Google Keep. Although not as powerful as Excel in terms of advanced data analysis and manipulation, Sheets can be a perfect alternative for basic data manipulation, team collaboration, and a wide variety of tasks. Some of the things you can do with Sheets include:
- Create spreadsheets with multiple sheets and tables, sort and filter data, and create pivot tables to summarize and analyze data.
- Utilize a wide range of built-in formulas and functions that can be used to perform calculations and data analysis.
- Create charts, graphs, and other visualizations to make your data more understandable.
- Create budgeting and financial analysis spreadsheets for balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Collaboration with multiple users to work on the same spreadsheet at the same time, and changes are synced in real-time.
- Use Sheets’ scripting capability (called Google Apps Script) to automate repetitive tasks and workflows.
- Create forms and collect data from the form submissions – useful for data collection, surveys, and feedback forms.
- Integration Sheets with other apps and services, such as Google Forms, Google Maps, and Google Translate, making it easy to work with data from different sources.
