Account Creation
Step-by-step:
1. You need a Gmail account
Before you can create a YouTube account, you must a have a Google Gmail account. If you don’t already have one, follow the one screen prompts and create that account first. Once completed, return here.
2. Sign in
Go to https://www.youtube.com and find the sign in box in the upper right corner.
3. Enter Google Account Information
Follow the prompts and enter your Google account and password (your Gmail account credentials).
The YouTube Dashboard
YouTube Navigation
Once logged into your account, you have two navigation option – the drop down navigation menu located in the upper left corner and the account controls on the upper right corner.
YouTube Apps
YouTube apps allow you to access YouTube TV, YouTube Gaming, YouTube Music, Creator Academy and more.
Account Settings
Account settings are accessed by clicking the profile icon in the upper left corner. Once clicked, you will access to your channel, Creator Studio, theme settings, profile settings and more.
Creating a Channel
Creating a channel is as simple as clicking the “my channel” button and agreeing to the terms and conditions.
Creator Studio
The Creator Studio controls allow you to manage your video content. You will access to uploading videos, video privacy settings, live streaming options, access to your channels, analytics, transcriptions, and tools to help create videos.
YouTube Analytics
YouTube Analytics can provide all of the desired information for every video uploaded or the entire channel including watch time, views, view duration, likes, dislikes, comments, shares, top geographies, traffic sources, and gender.
Account Settings
Account settings are access through the profile icon. From here you can control the YouTube account including account type, adding/removing managers, and creating or deleting channels.
Connecting Accounts
Google will allow you to connect your Twitter account to your YouTube account. Connecting the account will allow you to share data easier.
Adding Privacy
If you do not want people to know what types of videos you watch, you can add privacy restrictions to your data under the “Privacy” tab.
Notifications
Receiving too many emails? Maybe not enough… Either way, you can control the notifications you receive from your YouTube account by updating your preferences in the “Notifications” section.
Video Playback Options
Do you want to show captions or in-video notifications? Adjust the playback annotations and captions here.
Google TV
You can even connect your Google TV account directly to your YouTube account to stream YouTubes through your device.
The YouTube Menu
The YouTube navigation menu will give you access to trending videos, manage your subscriptions, view your history, browse channels, access premium YouTube options like Red or YouTube Movies, help, channel settings, and more.

Curious what others are watching? Click on the “Trending” button and see the most popular views recently uploaded.
